Ana Laguna

Dancers, Illustrations

Ana Laguna is smoking, but in more ways than one. Her Carmen, choreographed by her husband Mats Ek was electrifying, as she stomped and charmed cigar in mouth.

Maybe she was a particularly apt choice for the role, her Spanish roots at the heart of the performance of the strong, indomitable damsel, far from being in distress.

Ana, now in her sixties, is also a rare example of a dancer who continues her career on the stage well beyond her dance by date.

Karuski is the nom de pencil for me, Katherine Mengardon - I am a fan of all things 1960s, CAKES, obscure indie pop bands, children illustrations, bad puns and cats. Any spare time goes towards baking mad cakes, drawing families and catified musicians.
